WEALTH

"The greatest wealth is health." - Roman Poet

As I have gotten older, I have discovered that the physical and spiritual state of a human is intertwine immensely.  In high school, I would eat whatever I wanted because I was so active, I never gained any weight. But now looking back on it, I was always upset and angry for no apparent reason. I was spiritually disconnected and I always felt like I never had enough energy. When I got into college, I started making changes in my diet. I stopped eating fast food and started to chow down on my fruits and veggies. I have always worked out, so nothing really changed there, but I started to notice physical and spiritual changes within myself. I was able to concentrate more in school. I laughed a lot more and found joy in the smallest things. I could really see God's direction in my life a lot clearer. I felt more well rested, therefore I could get more things done during the day without crashing every 45 minutes. And obviously the physical benefits were awesome as well, but I realized how blessed we are to have a body. Our body is the house for our spirits. It literally is a gift from God and when we take care of it, He blesses us in so many ways. There are times where I nit pick at my body. There are times (more times than I like to admit) when I just hated my body, but I realize in those moments that those thoughts aren't coming from our Father in Heaven. Satan is the biggest hater in the world. He doesn't want us to see our bodies as a gift and a joy and he will try anything to make us think otherwise. Good people, remember that God's love is always around you. He made you the way you are for a reason. What a gift!!! Take care of our bodies and it will take care of you! Love you to the moon and back!

Green Is The New Black

So when I was in high school, I could go to McDonald's after school everyday, order whatever I wanted, go home and eat dinner, and still maintain a decent six pack. Now I am 20 and I am finding out that I can't just eat whatever I want and expect to look or Feel 100%! So after my Vegas trip, i have been trying to change my eating habits (vacation and diets aren't exactly realistic). I want to feel healthy, not just look it. My friend Shakira has taught me a lot about portion control ( my weakness). She also suggested to go vegan at least 3 times a week. I recently went to a vegan potluck, and it was so fun and yummy! Anyway, I've been feeling AMAZING ever since I switched the big mac for whole  wheat pasta with veggies! My skin is better and I can workout for longer periods of time! My hair is also growing faster, which is sometimes impossible in this dry weather. Anyway check out some of my progress :)!

1 Year Natural!!!!!

On November 22nd 2011 I basically chopped all of my hair off. It wasn't a hard decision for me because my poor hair was suffering(thanks Desert -_-). This year has been a long one but I am so happy to report that my hair feels and looks healthier, I have found out what product work for my hair and which ones were a bust and I've learned the value of patience....well I'm still learning that! I will admit that there were times where I felt I didn't achieve a "girly" feel to me because of my hair but decisions like this kind of force you to stand out and be confident with what you have. I had no hair to hide behind and I love that! Right now I have single braids in as a protective style. For those that don't know what that means, I basically put my hair in braids to seal my ends and protect my hair from the brutal winter months to come. It makes it easier to nourish my scalp and therefore continue hair growth. I am happy with my hair now and I can't wait for another year of new styles and experiences........and growth!!!

Let's talk about Health Baby ;)

So lately I have been really trying to be aware of what I eat. I noticed that eating the right things really effects the way you look, think and feel. My face hasn't had a pimple in weeks (record), my hair has grown a ton since eating right and exercising! I actually can wake up early in the morning to work out and i've lost two pounds. My body feels happy and I love that. I would suggest making your own food so that way you control what goes into your body. Some of the things I've been eating and drinking to help my hair grow is : Almond and Coconut milk, eating oatmeal with peaches, and drinking an organic green smoothie and lots of water! I also make homemade mini pizzas with chopped veggies and it is amazing! I've really want to take care of my body for me and what a better way to do it than from the inside out :)!
